Becky Bradley experienced a beautiful moment when she was asked by her then-boyfriend, Jarrod, for her hand in marriage. Unfortunately, she was also undergoing treatment for her brain tumor, and while they had agreed that they wanted a short engagement, between the countless trips to the hospital, achieving her dream wedding seemed like it was going to be impossible.
Then her hospital stepped in.
On her birthday, September 22nd, her team of doctors and nurses at Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte, North Carolina gave her a surprise present and invited her to her own wedding.

The staff knew just how badly she had been trying to plan her wedding and the difficulty she was facing considering all that she was going through, so they had secretly planned with the help of their community. From a local DJ to Pastor Lee Jock to her hair stylist, everyone provided their services at no cost for the couple. The chapel St. Mary’s Chapel and reception space Olde Mecklenburg Brewery were also all at no cost for the wedding.
On October 9 with 60 guests in attendance, they were finally able to make their dream a reality.

“I was at a loss for words,” Jarrod said about the generosity of his community. “I can’t believe all of those people donated everything just for us and all the friends we had fly in from all over the country.”
The only person that couldn’t make it to their wedding was Becky’s brother, who was serving in Afghanistan at the time of the wedding, but they were able to compensate by bringing a life-size cutout of him instead!

Emotions began to run high when they did their first dance as man and wife to Michael Buble’s “Hold On,” in a wheelchair. “The hardest part of the night was our first dance,” Jarrod noted. “She was in a wheelchair so it was pretty heartbreaking.”
Serena Perera, who is one of Becky’s nurses, commented that “Becky has such a good heart, this was the least we could do for her.”
The overall night was a success, and Becky was able to get the wedding of her dreams. With the help of the gracious doctor and nurses, she truly got everything she wanted. While Becky has a tough road ahead for her, she was given a memory to remember forever by the amazing team of people that are surrounding and supporting her!
